Sustainability

Our sustainable initiatives aim to achieve environmentally responsible spaces and buildings by providing enhanced occupant comfort, reducing draw on resources, and lowering building operating costs.
The Centre is currently undergoing a mechanical and vertical transport renewal program. The existing equipment, including the moving walks and escalators, had reached its end of life and has been replaced with modern, energy-efficient units.
New energy efficient chillers and plant have been ordered with proposed installation later this year.
The property has undergone an LED light upgrade, and the operations team emphasis is on tenant education towards waste separation to exceed our budgeted diversion rate.

Evolution

Prior to being “The Oasis on Broadbeach” the land was often referred to as “the oasis in the desert”as it was used for mining mineral sand until 1955. Construction of Lennon’s Broadbeach Hotel saw a major change in use, and operated until 1987, when the Hotel was demolished. Two years later, on the 29th of August 1989, The Oasis Shopping Centre, was unveiled. The opening included a monorail, known as the “Gol’Coasta” connecting The Oasis to Jupiter’s Hotel & Casino, now The Star, until 2017 when it was decommissioned.

Amongst a number of renovations throughout its history, The Oasis transformed in 2023 into a mixed-use asset, featuring a significant office offering with flexible workspaces. The new office offering, ‘Broadbeach Office,’ includes modern office facilities for traditional leasing, as well as flexible workspaces from Abacus’ new flex work offering called “”Flex by Abacus.
