Sustainability

Creating a culture of awareness and adaptability is the best investment for our portfolio.
We consider sustainability to include all Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risks and opportunities. We integrate these into our business operations and decision-making processes to achieve long-term commercial goals and deliver on our customer and social responsibility, furthering our approach to create thoughtfully designed spaces that meet our customers’ needs today while building sustainable returns for tomorrow.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is a framework to evaluate how responsibly an organization operates beyond its financial performance.
The ‘E’ in ESG stands for Environment and considers the impact a business has on the natural environment, including carbon emissions, waste management, water and energy efficiency and pollution.
The ‘S’ in ESG stands for Social and considers how a business treats its people, customers and communities, including health, safety and wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and privacy.
The ‘G’ in ESG stands for Governance and considers how a business operates, including ethical practices, transparency and reporting, an approach to modern slavery, and anti-corruption measures.
Abacus Group continues to build sustainability commitments, refining our strategy and delivering meaningful outcomes across our portfolio through business and sustainable practice alignment, managing environmental risks and opportunities, setting measurable targets, integrating sustainable design principals, and engaging stakeholders.
A sustainably conscious building minimises environmental impact through its operations, such as reduced waste and emissions, whilst supporting human wellbeing. The building may be new with these considerations integrated into its design, or it may be renovated to convert to these systems. The overall goal is to remain efficient and resilient over the remainder of the building’s life cycle, which can be measured by independent organisations such as Climate Active.
